How to prepare Himachal GK so that it stays in your head

Himachal GK is the one subject that carries across state exams. An hour you spend on it helps you in Police, Patwari, Clerk and more, which makes it one of the best uses of your time.

What to cover

• History: princely states, the freedom struggle, how statehood came about.
• Geography: districts and their headquarters, rivers, lakes, passes, national parks.
• Economy: horticulture, hydropower projects, state schemes.
• Polity: the Vidhan Sabha, Panchayati Raj, key offices.
• Culture: fairs and festivals, temples, folk dances, crafts.
• Current affairs of HP: always check the year, and verify against a government source.

How to make it stick

• Learn by district. Link each fair, temple, river and project to a place on the map. Linked facts are easier to recall than lists.
• Do 15 minutes daily, not three hours on Sunday.
• Practise questions rather than re-reading. Our HP GK practice brings back what you got wrong.
• Keep a "confusing pairs" page, like which dam is on which river, and read only that before a test.

The topic-wise HP GK practice on Score Delta follows this same structure.
